Every track is most enjoyable and it is easy to understand when you listen to them, how jazz, rock and roll and many other genres have been affected by the blues. This album really demonstrates the diversity of the blues with performances from great artists, the earliest in 1936 and the latest from this year. I have not seen the film, but I would like to. It was shown on TV in seven parts and traces the blues from it’s roots in the folk music of the South to the multi-million pound industry it is today, pointing out on the way the many other genre it has spawned. He described the film as a multi-media project to raise awareness of the blues and it’s contribution to American culture and music worldwide. The music for this album was originally selected for the film The Blues made by Martin Scorsese and premiered on PBS TV in September of this year.
